August is rapidly coming to a close. My brother's wedding is on Saturday, and then there is a single scant week left before labor day weekend is upon us.
Labor Day might not be the official start of fall, but for those of us who loved school it might as well be. I love the long weekend and the feeling of the change of seasons. It is magnificent to see the leaves changing and significantly less awesome to have to rake them all up. The temperatures are lower, so I can pile more blankets on and nest. I sleep a little better, and the air smells perfect. Wood smoke (from wood stoves not forest fires mind) and the crisp scent in the air leads to that strange smell of snow in the clouds.
I don't love it quite as much as I used to. I'm much wussier about the cold now and even more about falling on ice. I have already pulled one of my fleece coats out once this week. Even with that, fall and winter might be my favorite seasons of the year.
So, of course, this is the summeriest picture of Victor I could find. We were out at Ikea near the beginning of the month and on our way back we picked up pet supplies (even more dog food, etc.). We saw these ice cream treats. They were not frozen, but the instructions said to store them in the freezer for a few hours before serving.
Victor likes it! He really likes it!
No. There was no surprise had there, but he looks so wonderfully silly trying to keep the entire thing in his mouth the entire time. Maybe he should get another one this weekend. He is such an easy dog to please.
