I've been fairly good this week about balancing a few of my projects. Right now I have a lot of garter stitch-topia in my project list, because I'm working on the Albers Shawl and the Mitred Cross Blanket at the same time.
My Mitred Cross blanket is going to involve more squares than the original, because I am using sock yarn and would still like the blanket to measure approximately the same dimensions. I would like to use 4 or 5 contrast colors, and will probably pick up the next color over the weekend.
Currently my inner squares are being done with the Claudia Hand Paint in the Moss colorway with the outer portions being done in Berocco Ultra Alpaca Fine. Unfortunately, the weight of the Ultra Alpaca Fine is just not anywhere near the weight of the CC. The inner sections are wonderfully squishy and the outer sections are just a tad floppier than I like. Part of me wants to use a different white for the main color, but I don't think I will find a close enough match to make the change invisible.
Specs:
Square Size: between 7.5 and 8 inches square
Needles: US Size 2
Amount of CC: 10 grams
Amount of MC: 13 grams
I should be able to get 5 squares out of each ball of the Claudia Hand Paint and 7 of the Ultra Alpaca Fine. I'm thinking of lining the blanket when I'm done to help protect the woven in ends and to make the blanket both warmer, something I always need, and more polished. Any fabric suggestions?
