I forgot the yarn!
Please take my cruddy iPod photo (which is poor because there is no lighting at 3 am)!
When we were picking up the cake ingredients on Saturday we had extra time because of the bus schedule. My husband (what was he thinking!?) suggested that I could browse in the yarn shop.
It is definitely dangerous that the Milton Fruit Center is so close to Snow Goose. It might not be my absolute most favorite yarn shop, but that is because of convenience. A yarn shop within spitting distance of work is just hard to beat after all.
But there was sock yarn, and while I have definitely already bought yarn this year I've been using new yarn (or an equivalent amount from my stash) about as quickly as I purchase.
We had a bit of a conversation about what I was trying to do this year (which is exactly that: achieve 0% growth in the stash). That is one of the reasons I'm trying to finish so many projects. It is kind of stressful to have so many different irons in the fire.
The best things about reading so many different craft blogs is that I'm trying new things, rediscovering old loves, and being more adventurous about crafting in general. Unfortunately the side effect is a bit of choice paralysis when it comes to what to do. Right now it is my Paper Dolls sweater, which will not contain paper dolls, and my February socks plus whatever I do for Iron Craft.
My new yarn is Colinette Jitterbug in the Tapis (#72) colourway (if you really want to know what the yarn looks like there are pictures at the Loopy Ewe). This is a 150 gram, 400 yard skein. I'm assuming that Colinette heard the complaints of sock knitters. The 100 gram skeins are about 317 yards, which is a little tight for most people to make a pair of socks. I'm thinking that I might want to make Skew (ravelry link) with these, but there are a ton of sock patterns out there! Also this yarn looks a lot thicker than the Claudia Hand Paint sock yarn. Time for research! And maybe a nap before my day at Au Chocolat!
