I was still having issues with my Nike+ sensor yesterday, but it was a little better at 6.25 miles recorded instead of my actual 7.3 mile route. Ah well. Not so devastating when I plugged my numbers into a pace calculator and realized that I managed to complete my long run in under 11 minute miles. I'm still slow, but I'm getting better.
With the run and the cleaning spree, my hubby and I were forced out of the house most of yesterday. First, there was a showing in the morning, during which we went to the grocery and generally gadded about and afterwards there was the open house. During the open house I mostly hid at the bookstore and ended up coming home with the first issue of Knitters. It's an English magazine and doesn't focus on the beginner or intermediate knitter. This issue was full of cables and lace and didn't include the basics of how to cast on and what not. I could have also picked up the second issue while I was there and might go back and do so next week if it is still in stock. It's hard to tell what it is going to end up being like, but I know the second issue has the Liberty blanket in it from the latest Mason-Dixon book. I love that pattern and just haven't quite been able to buy the book yet (and the logic that says I can buy magazines and not the book, so confusing!).
Running and hiding from the viewing public wasn't the only thing I did this weekend. Saturday was gorgeous, and I walked through Somerville, Cambridge and Boston before meeting friends to see Watchmen. I had only read the graphic novel a few weeks before, so the story was fairly fresh in my mind. So, I wasn't a rabid fan (a plus for seeing a movie based on anything with a hint of cult following) which meant I had a more enjoyable experience overall than my viewing companions. Still, I can't say anything clean. Well, actually, I can. There is a bit more nudity than I was truly expecting in the movie, which doesn't make any sense (that I wasn't expecting it, not that it was there).
All told, I didn't get any knitting done this weekend, but I did make a pie and buy matcha to make cookies and other tasty treats (including tea). Overall, a good but busy weekend. Next weekend is more of the same with Ras na hEirann on Sunday!
