So, I like starting things. I am obviously not as good at finishing them. I have a whole sock savior sock done, and a second sock nearly halfway done.
I went to Spark Studios, because they were having an event for National Card Making Day and were giving away KickAss Cupcakes. I wanted to see what the fuss was about, and was interested in paper crafts. I was early.
It is truly dangerous to be early at a place like Spark. Paper, jewelry making, and knitting all under one roof. I bought some beads to make a necklace for my mother-in-law. I bought some paper, because it was pretty and blue and I've been kind of eh lately, so it was a cute little pick me up. And I bought yarn.
I'm making the Ballet Top (mathifying for my own gauge) from Loop-d-Loop. Did I finish the Yoke Vest? Umm, sort of. It still needs some ends woven in and for me to decide if I'm going to do a bit of crochet edging to lengthen it out (it is a tight fit, but as it is not cleavage enhancing that is OK), because cropped is not a good length on me. At least for sweaters. What did I get? Balls of dark brown Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran with a little something extra. All this would be bad enough, given that I've been trying really hard to not buy yarn (especially for a project for myself), except I also started it.
I made the dinkiest gauge square I could, rounded down (the Loop-d-Loop patterns are pretty tight) and mathified my cast on. I've been mathifying for a day and a bit and am nearly to the mathify for the arm holes. It's nearly time to take another circular and set it up for a bit of try on.
Heaven help me. I'm very excited! It is this part of the process that I knit for. Even if I don't finish, I get such satisfaction from putting the pieces together and changing things to fit. This top won't meet the same fate as the Yoke Vest (which I will make work even if I have to lose another 5 pounds to make it work), because I'm going to make sure it is loose enough around my bust for comfort, long enough for my style, and pretty enough to wear to work with a skirt or a pair of jeans. And if I don't behave myself, I will be done the end of next week.
