When I was first knitting socks (after doing my single test sock out of Red Heart acryllic), I bought a lot of Regia 4 Ply and Sockatta yarns. My Regia 4 Ply socks were way too big, because I had this idea that my small foot needed 74 stitch round socks. I kept that up with my first pair of Sockatta socks, and they are too bright for me and gargantuan.
I wasn't quite sure what I was doing at the start of the last of my Sockatta socks (this implies that bought a lot of really only means three or four skeins), and when I went back to them this weekend I realized that my gauge was loose. Something about the Sockatta yarn means I tend to knit loose, and I'm a loose knitter to start out with. I ripped back the sock I was working on, and recast on. Now I'm going to be knitting the entire pair in a simple 2-2 rib to help compensate for my tendency to knit looser than normal with this yarn. It's probably something to do with the cotton content. I like ribbed socks, because they are very forgiving. Most socks are.
Though given my size 0s are free, I could have just moved my socks to those needles instead. Somedays I'm just not so bright. Of course, I'm knitting these socks right now, because I'm putting off the kitchenering for a day or two.
