I have my Sockapalooza pal!
Now the balancing act between virtous and a gorgeous gift begins. I have a few skeins of sock yarn, including some fingering weight yarn that can easily be knit at sock gauge (I love matchmaker merino for socks). I would happily buy yarn for socks if I find the perfect yarn.
She likes wool socks (like many), and color (also like many), but most of my remaining sock yarn is in colors that can be swapped between myself and my husband (aka, colorful, but not very). My last pair of Dulaan socks might be OK in the color department, but my gut feeling is that they're too colorful. I would love to use this as an opportunity to do something new with my sock knitting. Maybe dye the yarn or overdye (like Sundara yarns) (can always use something like the KnitPicks Bare to start off with) or knit the argyle socks that Eunny Jang published in Interweave Knits or something with gorgeous texture (but not the Rib & Cables - I made way too many pairs of those last year). Doesn't this look delicious?
