おはようございます。
Good morning, I say (mostly to myself). I was just at Stashalong looking at other people's progress, and feeling relatively happy with mine. At the beginning of the month, I made a little post there with my goals for the week, and so far it is working. I'm actually paying attention to my current projects rather than flitting onto some other task. When I get tired of working on one thing, I switch to another one from the list. This hasn't gotten me to doing my single afterthought heel, but it has gotten me past the sleeve cast ons for the Fiery Bolero and to the heel flap for my socks.
I am so happy to be finished this last project for my CS class that I have been rewarding myself with a bit more knitting time. The next project is to create a class. Java is object-oriented, so a class is an object (I'm sure I'm grotesquely over simplifying) or more accurately all of the instructions for an object. So, we have a Picture class that tells any picture how to negate or overlay a color grid or double in size, etc. For the next project, I need to create a Slideshow (like all of the ones on Flickr or Snapfish) with music. This is one of those projects where I have too many ideas for the time I think we have to work in, so my partner and I will meet at Borders on Saturday and put our noses to the grindstone.
Of course, CS isn't the only distraction I've had lately from full on knitting action. I've been practicing my Japanese a lot more lately. Knowing that I can go down to New York and visit one of my friends and go to Kinokuniya has made me a lot more conscientious of how poor my Japanese has gotten in the past few years. I've been listening to a lot of JapanesePod101.com and trying to get caught up. Soon, I'll be adding a little light Japanese reading back to my pile. Probably not manga, though I have a lot of that. I also have Le Petit Prince in Japanese (I own a lot of random Japanese books), and I am thinking of taking another stab at that.
