Knitting Inventory

This page exists both as an inventory of the Knitting Skills or projects (general rather than specific) that I would like to do, and a place to list any of the knitting memes I do.  I don't really enjoy the list memes, but the Knitting Skills meme is more like a laundry list of the things I've done and the ones I'm interested in doing.  I figure that it will be useful to keep the list of things I'm interested in doing kind of fresh, so maybe I'll get off my butt and do some of them.

The Refigured Knitting Skills Meme
I have put the things from the meme into the table below.  I removed pretty much all of the knit with fiber items.  I have knit with an awful lot of different fibers, and don't really think about keeping track of them all.  Even if I haven't knit with something (like linen), I have the yarn in my stash and just need a project for it.

I figure that as I do things that I've thought about doing for a while (like fair isle), I'll just come back and edit this list. I have also added a few items I'd like to try, mostly things to do with other fiber arts (like spinning) or techniques that come up in some patterns that I haven't done (like needle felting or corrugated ribbing).  I also tried to move the knitting skills items together and the pattern items together, though I'm sure I missed some things and they will need clean up.  Anything marked with a * is something I wasn't actually sure about (aka, I didn't know what the meme originator meant by the item), but I decided to leave it on the list anyway.

What have you learned to do that has marked a definite change in your knitting life?
I can't really think of any one skill that has changed my knitting life.  I think knitting in public is one of the best things you can do.  While you may not get people commenting or asking about it, especially when you start, it brings the craft out to people.  After a while (especially if you are like me and you knit in public on the train or the bus at about the same time and place each day), people will express their interest as your activity becomes less odd to them.  Don't assume that someone is or is not interested in learning to knit because of gender or age.  They will make themselves clear.
