Last Friday I walked to a friend's house after work along the Harbor Walk (for those who wanted to know, it was almost 4 miles). It was a gorgeous day with beautiful blue skies and warm air. The park near Gilette was full of small children and puppies.
And birds.
Canada Geese. Two large ones were along my path, and I tend to be a little more wary of the larger birds. They are wild after all and I imagine a wack of a wing or a snap of a beak would put a damper on my day. But large birds weren't the only kind I saw.
A little gosling (I assume it belonged to the two geese, but I'm not that good with birds) was walking away from the park and under cars in the parking lot. It was so cute I just had to follow it for a bit to see if I could get a good shot.
Not bad for a cell phone camera, eh?
Those aren't the only birds I've experienced lately. This week has been duck week in my little neighborhood. The driveway is in need of repair, and so it collects a large puddle when it rains. Each morning when I've gone out to walk Victor there have been two mallards dipping their toes in our impromptu lake.
This morning the birds were a little late, and so Victor missed the excitement, but my hubby got to see them for the first time. When they deemed that we were getting too close, they waddled into the grass and then flew off. I wonder if the ducks will be there again tomorrow. The puddle has shrunk quite a bit, but theoretically we are supposed to get rain today. Give the ducks some fresh water to laze about in.
