I knew that Sustainable Braintree was doing a lot with recycling, but I somehow missed the information about the new farmer's market! Beginning the last Saturday in June, the farmer's market is meeting around the Town Hall and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is great news! It's within walking distance, so I will be able to get fresh locally-grown produce on the weekends, something I missed when the South Station farmer's market was not renewed for 2008.
In the last year or so I've become more willing to spend money on quality fruits, vegetables and cheeses, figuring that if I'm not going to be eating a huge quantity of food that I want the flavor and nutrition to be top notch. So far it is working, provided I remember that my schedule doesn't always allow for any cooking and curtail my purchases during those times. I don't want to think about how much fruit went bad during the last two weeks of Iolanthe, because my brain wasn't allowing me to make anything other than cookies and fudge - things that I can make in my sleep.
Now I just need to figure out what to put in my little garden (definitely jumping the gun, because that is weeks away still) that will complement what I can buy from the local market!
