Iolanthe, Spring 2009 (Dress Rehearsal), click for bigger
The last two shows are nearly upon us (just Friday night and Saturday matinee to go). Then we will clean the green room, pack up the makeup and dismantle the set, cart everything back to the set shop or the office, and hopefully this time I will have enough energy to join people at the cast party. I haven't made it to a cast party for a show since either the last Iolanthe or Ruddigore. A long, long time ago.
I'm hoping to make something tasty, but in our quest to have less perishable foods to move at the end of the month (about 3 weeks away) I have already used all of the eggs. I now am coming up with tasty desserts that use up more of the flour so I will only have 1 bag of flour instead of 3 that use just egg whites or no eggs at all. It's a bit of a challenge.
There is a refreshment stand at the show, so a fair number of my efforts have been filling the refreshment stand with homemade cookies and fudge. For yesterday's show, I brought cookies that I built from a standard sugar cookie base (I've been calling it the 1-1-1-2-2 because of its proportions). To half of the dough I added lime oil and white chocolate chunks and the other half got Ghiradelli cocoa powder and chocolate chips. The lime cookies sold out, but they have some chocolate cookies for tonight!
So, anyone going to come to tonight's show? I mean other than my hubby?
