Thank goodness for Peapod. This week is just an onion of insanity. Each time I think I have finished something and cleared it off of my plate I turn around and there is another layer of busyness or more insanity underneath. There is certainly no time for a full scale grocery shopping trip, but there were 5 minutes over 3 days to decide what I'm making for dinner on the only day I'm home all week.
This, of course, meant I ordered more tupperware. Specifically, the ziploc twist lid thingies (properly called: Ziploc Twist ‘n Loc Containers and Lids) which allow me to make soup that doesn't leak all over my (or my husband's) backpack. Yeah, a little accident with egg drop soup is not the best way to start the morning.
I have finally finished reading all of the entries from Smitten Kitchen. Ooof. That was a large number of recipes, a huge number even. It is a great place for kitchen inspiration (I last made the purple potatoes and was pleasantly surprised by their bright purple color, which often turns to grey when I cook). Between that and the Cook's Illustrated I picked up, maybe I can make my cooking a bit better. Probably not. This will probably be a phase and I will go back to just making pies and cookies and the quickest main course vegetarian dishes I can find.
Until then, I have the ingredients for tabbouleh calling my name for a healthier lunch had by all.
