Well, it's certainly not Bald Mountain.
This is the garter stitch mountain I've been working on for the past month or so for my MIL's baby shower present (a present for her to give, not a present for her). That pile represents a baby hat, blanket and jacket that need ends woven in, seams made, embroidery and blocking. It's a veritable mountain of work left to do, but now that the stitching itself is done I feel so much freer.
Of course, I am working on Henry again, but the break seems to have done me some good. I'm not swooning with happiness to be working on the project, because the rows are time consuming and I just wish I could say I was done already, but I am thrilled to be working on something that isn't simple garter stitch.
This weekend I'm going to try and fit some of this finishing work in between Watchmen (Saturday), a long walk, a 7+ mile run (Sunday), and game. I just need to tell myself that finishing is as exciting as garter stitch. Funny thing is after the miles of garter, it really is a thrill to be completing something again.
The blanket's instructions were actually to make 63 (or whatever number) of garter stitch squares and seam them all together. I'm trying really hard to make the back of the blanket look as attractive as the front, and for the life of me I just couldn't think of a way to make matress stitch (the pattern recommendation) look good on both sides. I'm planning on cro-kaying or something to connect the strips in an attractive fashion. I am also taking suggestions if anyone is so inclined.
Unfortunately burning it is not an appropriate suggestion.
