So, I just sent an email to Habu Textiles. They are having their annual wintertime yarn sale, which makes my heart go pitter-patter. I just went through all of their stuff yesterday, looking at the strange and unusual treasures. If the prices are to be believed, then I could get an unclear amount of silk lace/weaving yarn to try my hand at designing or dying or both.
I really want to make the wedding dress skirt that I referred to yesterday (sometime in late '05 undoubtedly), but I want it to be in something other than white. I was thinking of taking the lace weight yarns and dying them and then pairing it with an undyed white lace weight yarn. It might be too much, but I can't help thinking about it. There are so many ideas I have, but they almost all involve diaphanous yarns (light and lacy).
Why do I like lace so much??
So, I sent that email. It's for NS-18G (archaeic numbering) which is 21/2x2 silk organzine degummed. I would have to re-read up on dying if it is feasible, but it would be so worth it to have a project that I have started from nearly the get go (own yarn, own colors, own project).
